Intermission
Out-of-print in the US. Despite founding guitarist Vivian Campbell's departure from Dio just a few months after the release of 1985's SACRED HEART, the band took to the road in the summer of '86 with replacement guitarist Craig Goldie in tow. To introduce the new lineup to fans, Dio issued it's first live recording, the six-song INTERMISSION EP. Five of the tracks were recorded in concert and featured Campbell, while Goldie plays on the new, studio-recorded "Time to Burn". at the time, Dio's stage-show relied heavily upon theatrics. Look no further than the front cover of INTERMISSION, in which Ronnie James Dio is pictured slaying a huge plastic dragon! But the group still created plenty of excitement onstage through it's music. Longtime fans will get a kick out of "Rock N' Roll Children Medley", which features tracks from R.J. Dio's past bands, as well as "Sacred Heart", "Rainbow in the Dark", "We Rock", and "King of Rock and Roll". INTERMISSION serves as a worthy souvenir for the thousands of metal fans that caught Dio's bombastic arena shows of the 80's.
