I Got Love (Songs of Jerome Kern)
Broadway star and three-time Tony-nominee Rebecca Luker gives voice to the work of legendary theatre composer Jerome Kern in her new album I GOT LOVE - Songs of Jerome Kern. Drawn from her acclaimed performances at New York City's 54 Below, which Bloomberg News proclaimed 'as perfect a show as one could ask for,' Luker covers three decades of Kern songs, including classics such as 'Can't Help Lovin' That Man,' 'The Folks Who Live on the Hill,' 'Why Was I Born?' and 'The Song Is You,' along with more obscure fare like 'Saturday Night,' 'Not You' and 'I Got Love.' In her third solo disc for PS Classics (following Leaving Home and Greenwich Time), Luker -- joined by music director and orchestrator Joseph Thalken -- provides fresh arrangements and deeply personal renditions of some of the most elegant, moving songs of the Great American Songbook. It's a perfect match of singer and songwriter; as Theatermania put it in reviewing her concert, 'Rebecca Luker singing Jerome Kern are five of the most beautiful words in the English language.'
