How to use HP DataProtector 8
Note that this book is for Data Protector version 8. If you are using Data Protector 9, you might want to look at "Planning, Deploying and Installing Data Protector 9: For the datacentre, the cloud and remote offices" or "Operating, Running and Supporting HP Data Protector 9".
This is a coursebook for learning HP DataProtector 8. It can be used as a self-study workbook, or as the coursebook in a one day face-to-face delivered class. (Slides and PDFs for creating paper copies are available separately.)
It covers the essentials: installing DataProtector version 8 (cell managers, installation servers and agents); creating a StoreOnce deduplication device, creating filesystem and IDB backups; copying backups to tapes.
As of publishing, this book has the only documented method for restoring the version 8 (PostgreSQL) internal database from backup.
