How to tune your drums: My drum tuning system makes it easy.
Do you always have trouble when tuning your snare drum, bass drum or tom toms. Do they sound like cardboard boxes, or ring like dustbins? Are the drums shells ok or cracked? Are they lacquered inside? Are the heads new or already on the kit? Are they pitted or split? Are they single-ply or double-ply, clear or coated, or do they have a dot in the middle? Do they have dampening rings or mufflers? Are they covered in Gaffa or electrical tape? Are you trying to match up a brand new replacement head, with theolder heads on your kit? Are your drum sizes big or small? Is your snare too slack or tight, or not centred properly on the snare bed? All these are factors that can cause problems when tuning a drum kit, but you can overcome them all, with this guide to my easy system of tuning drums, which I have developed over 45 years of playing drums professionally. Just follow the instructions in my easy to understand system and whatever problem or problems you are having with your tuning, will become a thing of the past.
