How To Create Excel Forms With Select Formulas (How To Create Forms In Word & Excel 2010)
Shows you how to use form controls in Excel (both ActiveX and Legacy form controls). Forms don€t need to be locked in Excel, there are only minor differences between ActiveX and Legacy controls in Excel. After listing the types of controls available to Excel with an explanation of how they are used, essential formulas are shown that are of use in forms creation in Excel: CONCATENATE, HYPERLINK, IF, INDIRECT, ISBLANK, SUM AND VLOOKUP. Of course those aren€t the only formulas you can use in forms, but they are among the most useful. I also show a drop down box alternative, called Data Validation. It allows you to access the cell where the drop down box is located without using an index that is required by a standard drop down box. I show four examples of how to use form controls and Excel formulas to create unique forms that allow you to get files from anywhere your computer can access. The first, File Finder, helps you locate project files that are weekly, bimonthly, or monthly. The second example, Dynamic Shortcut, gives you a dynamic hyperlink to a directory of your choice by using one or more drop down boxes. The third example Dynamic Shortcut2, gives you six dynamic hyperlinks to link to six different directories through setting one or more drop down boxes for each dynamic hyperlink. Example four, Favorites, is an Excel version of your favorites (or bookmarks) in your favorite web browser (like Internet Explorer, Firefox or Chrome).
