Honeywell Captuvo SL22 Enterprise Sled for Apple Touch iPod 5th Generation, 5V

The Honeywell Captuvo SL22 enterprise sled is designed to hold a fifth-generation iPod Touch (sold separately) and enables the device to be used as a handheld barcode reader and magnetic card reader. An imager allows the sled to scan and decode linear one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) barcodes. Honeywell EasyDL software allows the device to scan and parse barcode data from a government-issued identification card to verify age or automatically populate an electronic form. The integrated three-track magnetic card reader can be used to swipe and read the magnetic stripe on the back of a credit or debit card or another magnetic stripe card. Three-track magnetic card readers can read and capture data from all three tracks typically present in a magnetic stripe. The bidirectional configuration of the magnetic card reader enables cards to be swiped backward or forward. Encryption helps protect transaction data and prevent unauthorized access.

A USB cable can be plugged into the USB port of a computer or another host system (sold separately) to transmit barcode and card data. A lithium-ion battery enables the sled and the iPod Touch to be used continuously for up to eight hours on one charge. A 5V power adapter can be connected to the sled and plugged into a wall outlet to recharge the battery within six hours. Honeywell Remote MasterMind 3.0 software (available separately for download) can be used by an administrator to manage the device remotely. This product weighs between 125 and 139 g (between 4.4 and 4.9 oz.) without the iPod Touch and measures 143.5 x 70.3 x 30 mm/5.6 x 2.8 x 1.2 inches (H x W x D). (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) It can withstand drops of up to 1.2 m (4') on a concrete floor. For a complete set of product specifications, please see the manufacturer's brochure.

Barcode scanners, also known as barcode readers, can be used to scan and decode barcodes and to transmit barcode data to a computer or another host system. Barcode readers with a single-line laser can be used to scan linear, one-dimensional (1D) barcodes. Some lasers can produce light in an omnidirectional pattern to allow scanning of barcodes from different angles. Other barcode readers contain CCD (charge-coupled device) light sensors instead of a laser for accuracy and wear resistance. Barcode scanners with raster scanning, area imaging, and other scanning technologies can allow scanning of two-dimensional (2D) or Portable Document Format 417 (PDF417) barcodes, among other types. Some barcode readers provide onboard flash memory to allow the storage of barcode data before transmitting it to a computer or host system through a USB cable or wireless WLAN or Bluetooth connection. Many barcode readers have a handle for handheld use and come with a stand or a charging cradle for fixed position applications, while others are designed for stationary use on a counter or another flat surface. Some portable readers are small enough to be carried in a pocket or attached to a lanyard. Barcode readers are used at retail checkout counters and other points of sale (POS) locations and in warehouses and shipping facilities.
