No sooner has P.I. Polly Berger landed a new case with a sizable fee than a Los Angeles street gang shoots up Rosa's Reading Room on the first floor of Polly's office building. One distraction after another prevents Polly from locating the missing wife of Hollywood televangelist Harvey ('Holy') Kow, including the murder of a member of the Go 4 Gold barbershop quartet from Holy Kow's Golden Cathedral.
