Hioki 3151 Earth HiTester, 5 Kilohms Resistance, 10V DC, 50V AC Voltage, 15mA AC Current

The Hioki 3151 Earth HiTester performs 3-electrode and 2-electrode ground resistance testing in tough use in field environments. Recommended uses include ground resistance testing of electrical grounding, mesh grounding, electrical power equipment grounding, and when the measurement point location is at a distance from the insertion point of the grounding electrode. Measurement frequency is switchable from normal (3 point) to simple (2 point) to minimize the influence of harmonic earth voltage. The tester can take measurement readings up to 115% of the actual range. For safety, overvoltage and incorrect connections sound an alarm buzzer. Quick reference instructions are included in the inside cover of the meter to assist with meter use and equipment setup for 3-point and 2-point testing. Ground-resistance meters are used by electricians and contractors working in industrial, utility, and field servicing.

The Hioki 3151 tester comes with a 1m black measurement cable, 10m yellow cable, 20m red cable, auxiliary rods, three cable winders, and carrying case. The tester is CE marked, with safety ratings of EN61010, CAT II, and pollution degree 2.

Ground-resistance meters test the condition of a grounding system, and provide resistivity measurements in ohms. The meters are available in digital, analog, and clamp models. Grounding systems protect people and equipment, and provide a safe path for the dissipation of fault currents, lightning strikes, static discharges, EMI and RFI signals, and interference. Regular testing of a grounding system is important for safety and protection of equipment. For example, corrosive soil with high moisture content can degrade ground rods and connections in existing systems and increase the resistance of the system. Ground-resistance meters are used in conjunction with a variety of testing methods to troubleshoot intermittent electrical problems or as part of a regular maintenance plan.

Hioki manufactures memory recorders, automatic test equipment, and electronic testing and measurement instruments. The company, founded in 1935, is headquartered in Japan and has a U.S. office in Cranbury, NJ.
