Her Boyfriend's Bones: A Dinah Pelerin Mystery (Dinah Pelerin Mysteries Book 4)
Once a rich city state, the island of Samos is today part of Greece. It’s had its share of conflict and tragedy. And murder.
In 1973, on one of Samos’ beautiful, remote beaches, movie star Marilita Stephan murdered her boyfriend, his mother, and a powerful colonel in the military junta, a crime for which she was executed.
Forty years later, Dinah Pelerin expects only good times to roll when she arrives on Samos to spend the summer with her boyfriend, Thor, before she joins a nearby archaeological dig. Dinah’s previous encounter with the sexy Norwegian underlined her fascination with myths, but she didn’t suspect that policeman Thor might be spinning her one when choosing their vacation destination.
Her first hint that Thor may not be on sabbatical comes when an Iraqi immigrant to Samos, a man with a fake ID, is killed shortly after they meet him at a village taverna. Thor is keenly interested in the crime, but before he can investigate his car plunges off a cliff and he disappears.
Aware that Greece’s economic woes have bred corruption, Dinah fears Thor was somehow involved in the murder, betrayed by local police, and either kidnapped or killed. Investigating, Dinah learns Nor-wegian intelligence has traced former CIA weaponry to the island of Samos. Unable to trust anyone, distracted by the arrival of her unruly and unpredictable niece, Dinah sets out to find Thor.
What about that 40-year-old scandal? Is the old case somehow related to Thor’s disappearance? Dinah’s landlord for their rented villa is Marilita’s sister. What does she know? Can this be the stuff of some Greek tragedy?
