Helical/Spiral Ct: A Practical Approach
This text responds to the new era in CT scanning in which the X-ray tube is rotated continuously around the patient. Since helical/spiral CT is superior to conventional CT, it is expected to become the standard technique by the late 1990s. There are a number of advantages of helical/spiral CT over conventional CT: faster imaging; better resolution; ability to acquire continuous image data; 3-D imaging capabilities; cheaper than MRI; and fewer image artifacts. It is also possible to acquire a large number of images with very small reconstruction intervals, and provide the images with a high degree of continuity.
