This is a rare May 1964 playbill (with three original ticket stubs) from the Pre-Broadway tryout of the A. E. HOTCHNER play with music "THE WHITE HOUSE" at the Forrest Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (The production would open May 19th, 1964 at Henry Miller's Theatre in New York City and close after only 23 performances.) ..... The play starred HELEN HAYES (in multiple roles as Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, Dolley Madison, Mrs. Grover Cleveland, Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt, Mary Todd Lincoln and seven other characters), FRITZ WEAVER (as Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain, Captain Sigsbee and Woodrow Wilson) and JAMES DALY (as George Washington, James Monroe, Martin Van Buren, William Henry Harrison, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Grover Cleveland and Theodore Roosevelt) and featured GENE WILDER, SORRELL BOOKE, ERIC BERRY, MICHAEL O'SULLIVAN, BETTE HENRITZE, EUGENE ROCHE and NANCY FRANKLIN .....
