Carlos Cascante y su Tumbao Hablando en Serio; on the Bettrmusic label and distributed exclusively by Salsaneo Records. This CD was produced by pianist/arranger/composer Julio Jauregui. This CD continues the journey started with their first CD Recuerdos;, their latest effort has a more polished sound and continues their trademark sound of Trumpeter Thomas Marriott as the only horn on the arrangements. Julio Jauregui succeeds creating a distinctive sound with his interesting explorations with jazz voicings, montunos and afrocuban popular music. But the highlight of this recording are the outstanding selection of songs penned by both Carlos and Julio, the songwriting is interesting and clever, talking about everyday life experiences, rumba as well as a great covers of Usted Abuso and classic bolero. Carlos delivery immediately makes you feel the emotion that the songs convey! The CD also features guest artists Luisito Quintero, Paoli Mejias, Miguelito Valdes, Will Martin and Ted Dortch. Carlos Cascante won the Grammy award as the lead singer of Spanish Harlem Orchestra in their most recent CD Viva la tradicion.
