Dirty electricity is a potentially harmful form of electromagnetic pollution that travels along the wiring in buildings and radiates into rooms within. It is also known as electromagnetic interference (EMI) or electrical "noise" and has been associated with a wide range of health problems. Most dirty electricity is created by modern electronics, appliances, and energy-efficient lights (for example: fluorescent bulbs and tubes) as they operate in homes and other settings. These devices generate voltage transients and harmonics that contaminate a building's electrical system. The Greenwave EMI Dirty Electricity Meter is a revolutionary device for measuring the level of dirty electricity/EMI present on electrical wiring in buildings. Simply plug the meter into electrical outlets to see how much dirty electricity (EMI) is flowing along wiring/circuits near the outlets. Measurements are presented in millivolts (mV) -- an internationally accepted, standardized electrical unit of measure. Greenwave's EMI Meter makes it easy to see and hear the difference that dirty electricity filters make in reducing EMI on building wiring. Plug the meter into the top socket of an electrical outlet to get an initial ("BEFORE filter") EMI reading. Then (with the meter still plugged in), insert a dirty electricity filter into the bottom socket of the same outlet or a nearby outlet. The "AFTER filter" display screen will show both the initial EMI level and the new EMI level in millivolts (mV). It will also show the % reduction in total EMI between 2kHz and 10,000kHz (10MHz). The meter includes a special audio feature which lets users listen to the dirty electricity on a circuit when the meter is plugged in.
