Green-banded Urania (Urania leilus) Moth Specimen
The Green-banded Urania (Urania leilus) is a day-flying moth of the Uraniidae family. It is found in tropical South America. It is sometimes confused with Urania fulgens, which has less white in the tail. As appears to be the case for all Urania, the larvae of the Green-banded Urania feed exclusively on the toxic Omphalea species. **Please keep in mind that these specimens are dried and unspread (as shown), meaning the wings are closed. These specimens are useful if you want to use their wings only (for artwork, fairy dolls, jewelry) or simply to study them for science. In order to spread moths for mounting and display, simply search online on how to hydrate the butterflies to spread their wings. • You will receive a specimen similar to that shown • Each specimen is approximately 2" unspread (4" spread)
