Grant Instruments PS-M3D Multi Function 3D Rotator, 5 to 30 rpm, 1kg Load Rating, 4 to 40 Degree C

The Grant Instruments PS-M3D benchtop digital multi-function shaker uses 100-240V AC at speeds between 5 to 30rpm, and has three shaking modes, timed or continuous shaking, a dual-line LCD, and a 215 x 215mm (W x D) platform with a smooth, non-slip mat. (W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) This shaker has three types of motion: orbital, reciprocal, and vibration. The orbital mode combines an orbit of 22mm, an adjustable speed between 1 to 100rpm and a tilt angle of 7 degrees to create a long wave motion for mixing large particles. The reciprocal mode combines an adjustable speed from 1 to 100rpm, an adjustable turning angle from 0 to 360 degrees in increments of 30, and a tilt angle of 7 degrees, to create a long and medium wave motion for mixing medium and large particles. The orbital and reciprocal modes can be set between one to 250 seconds. The vibration mode has a 1 to 6 degree turning angle, programmable in a burst of 0 to 5 seconds, to create a short wave motion for mixing small particles. The three modes can be linked together in up to 14 different cycle combinations to ensure optimum mixing conditions. The 3D reciprocating and vibration motion types can be replaced with a pause, and each cycle can be repeated up to 125 times or run continuously up to 24 hours. Applications for this shaker include gel washing, blot-hybridization, electrophoretic analysis of proteins and nucleic acids, blood sample preparation, and cell cultivation.

The dual-line LCD shows cycle countdown and the changing time values for each mode. The platform has a smooth, non-slip mat and a load capacity up to 1kg. A tube adaptor (sold separately) can accommodate 26 tubes with a diameter up to 11mm or a dimpled mat (also sold separately) can accommodate various tube sizes. The reliable stepper motor and sturdy construction provide durability and the shaker can be used in a cold room or incubator.

Laboratory shakers agitate liquids during laboratory procedures. These devices can be analog or digital and are typically an automated, electrically powered, countertop unit that shakes liquid in lab containers, such as flasks, funnels, or test tubes. Some shakers can operate inside fume hoods, incubators, refrigerators, or other laboratory devices, and can include controls for the frequency and/or degree of movement. The types of shakers include: orbital, rocking, rolling, rotating, and wrist action. The most common orbital shaker provides a smooth, continuous, circular motion, sometimes with a tilt angle, for uniform mixing of contents. The rocking shaker creates gentle uniform mixing with a see-saw, or up and down, motion. Reciprocating, or rolling, shakers provide a horizontal side-to-side motion with simple agitation of samples. A rotating, or rotisserie, shaker provides samples with a rotating action that moves in a circular motion. Wrist-action shakers duplicate the effect of hand mixing with "arms" on each side of the unit. Some shakers have the ability to incubate or refrigerate samples while providing shaking action.

Grant Instruments manufactures laboratory equipment such as shakers, water baths, coolers, and heaters. The company, founded in 1952 and headquartered in England, meets International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards 9001:2008 and 14001:2004.
