Gold Plated Mosaic Italian Murano Glass Bead Triple Strand Wrap Around Toggle Necklace 30" Museum Jewelry
Jewel-like strands of polished Murano glass punctuate a versatile triple-strand necklace designed to wear as a collar or long and layered. Matching Earrings and Bracelet Available. Background History: Mosaic glass became popular in Egypt, Syria and Rome, and had a renaissance in 16th century Venice where the glass became known as Millefiori (a thousand flowers). Millefiori is a glasswork technique which produces distinctive decorative patterns. These beads were artistically created by laying colored glass rods next to each other with the middle section often creating a flower-like pattern. These rods were then heated so they could be stretched and fused together. The bar was sliced into beads which were pierced for jewelry. Includes Deluxe Box and History Card to make the ideal gift.
