In a collection of over 100 poems, Rabindranath Tagore explores a variety of topics, from the pastoral to the divine. The verses are considered songs of devotion. Originally translated into English by W. B. Yeats in 1912, the pieces collected in “Gitanjali†earned Tagore the first Nobel Prize for Literature ever awarded to a non-European.
