Giro Air Attack Helmet

We all know that traditional aero helmets serve a very specific function -- even if, they're a bit cumbersome and a tad silly looking. With the new Air Attack Helmet, Giro's engineers have rethought the traditional aero helmet to provide a design that is more compact, better ventilated, and that can be worn for longer periods of time. Giro gave the frontal area of the Air Attack a nearly identical design as the Selector time trail helmet, but "chopped-off" the rear section to save weight. The Air Attack has slimmed down to a claimed weight of 264g. After extensive wind tunnel testing, Giro found that air still moves over the back of the helmet in much of same way even without the material of a long tail. In fact, the Air Attack has only 11% more minimal drag than the Selector. In addition to creating a lighter helmet, Giro's engineer's improved the ventilation of the Air Attack with the Super Fit system. Giro found that as air hits the rider, a very high pressure zone develops at the forehead. Super Fit suspends the rider's head off the EPS, allowing air to enter in the front portion of the helmet and flow over the top of the head and out the large, strategically arranged back channels. The result is an almost 28% increase in cooling power, providing you with around 97% cooling efficiency. This, mind you, is in addition to the 11% boost in aerodynamic efficiency. Losing a tail, sometimes, isn't all that bad.
