Focusing on the Angkor Temples: The Guide Book (3rd Edition)
The third edition, revised and updated, of Focusing on the Angkor Temples (July 2014). With the detailed visit of 80 temples, a list including Angkor Wat, of course, but also the less visited Banteay Chhmar, Koh Ker and Sambor Prei Kuk sites (133 pages, or nearly one third of this guidebook, are devoted to the visit of the 12 major temples found on the Angkor site). 1100 illustrations, including 780 colour pictures, a record, and 150 temple floor-plans, colour-coded and carefully annotated, a first, to really guide you around. Each of these detailed plans will help you locate within a given temple the mythological scenes and special features you should not miss. A real plus since, in large Angkor temples, most first-time visitors feel they are caught in a labyrinth! The first three chapters are devoted to ancient Khmer history, religions (Hinduism and Buddhism), and architecture. These chapters (a total of 85 pages) have been presented in a clear, thematic fashion, to make these subjects easily accessible to non-specialists.
