Flying the Rim
For a brief two-year period at mid-twentieth century a new gold rush began in the United States . The gold was yellow carnotite, a primary uranium ore with a guaranteed high price from the federal government. Jeeps, small airplanes, and Geiger counters had replaced the prospector's mule, pick and gold-pan. A few fortunes were made. Most of the big strikes were discovered from the air. Flying the Rim is the story of the author's search for uranium in the 1950s flying a Piper Supercub.
