Fire & Fury R&B Story
Two CD collection that focus' on two legendary New York labels headed by Bobby Robinson. His Fire and Fury record Labels were Harlem's hottest during the late 1950s and early '60s, releasing a solid stream of national smashes. Fire's first major success came toward the end of the year when whooping harpist Buster Brown's irresistible Country Blues throwback 'Fannie Mae' topped the R&B hit parade in early '59 and made a #38 pop impression. Wilbert Harrison punched Bobby's ticket to the big time in '60 by presenting him with 'Kansas City', an instant Rock 'n' Roll classic. Robinson also welcomed Gladys Knight & The Pips, just starting out and soaring high in the charts with their seminal Every Beat Of My Heart and Letter Full Of Tears. Throughout the early '60s Fire & Fury scored an extensive list of hits.
