The Filabot Wee filament extruder kit requires assembly, and fabricates 1.75 mm or 3 mm diameter plastic filament for use in a 3D printer from ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) or PLA (polylactic acid) thermoplastic pellets or reclaimed shavings. The enclosure is made of 1/2" plywood, has three rocker switches for power, extruder feed motor, and heater, and a controller with LCD display to set and maintain a steady heater temperature from 40 to 350 degrees C. A sheet metal hopper holds pellets and optional colorant, or shavings, for feeding through the extruder, at rates from 5 to 20 inches/minute (13 to 51 cm/minute), depending on the type of plastic and diameter extruded. The unit comes with two interchangeable brass nozzles to extrude either 1.75 mm or 3 mm diameter filament. The extruder kit includes 1 lb of white ABS plastic pellets.
