Fais Do Do: Music of the Bayou 1969-1978
A member of the Grand Ol' Opry by age 21 and a part of the legendary Louisiana Hayride broadcast with the young Elvis, energetic and authentic Cajun fiddle master DOUG KERSHAW had sold millions of records well before he appeared on the premiere episode of The Johnny Cash Show in June 1969. A sudden sensation, he appeared with John Lennon at the debut of his Plastic Ono Band, opened for Eric Clapton's Derek & the Dominos at the Fillmore, was a part of Zachariah, the first electric rock western movie, and played sessions for and with Bob Dylan, Ry Cooder, and Earl Scruggs. Signed by Warners, the fiery, flamboyant Ragin' Cajun cut ten albums for them - each stacked with some of the most infectious swamp music ever recorded and all imbued with the spirit of fais do do. This long-overdue anthology culls 25 of the best tracks from those ten albums, some of which have never been available beyond original vinyl release, making this the first definitive anthology of DOUG KERSHAW'S classic Warner 60s/70s albums. Features a deluxe color booklet with revealing liner notes and period images
