FTCo. Rotifer Delight (20oz) - Live Rotifers
What are Live Rotifers?
Rotifers are microscopic organisms that form one of the most basic links in the aquatic food chain. Specific strains of rotifers are being aquacultured intensively and have been used to raise over countless species of marine fish, corals and invertebrates. Almost any marine aquarium will benefit from the addition of rotifers.
Which Rotifers Do You Stock?
We stock (Brachionus plicatilis) which is the "L" strain which range in size from 100-360 microns. Unlike brine shrimp or pods, they cannot be easily seen with the naked eye. With the rotifers in a clear container and the water perfectly still, shine a flash light to the side of the container. The rotifers should be visible as tiny specks swimming around when viewed from the surface of the water.
How Many Live Rotifers Will I Receive?
Our live rotifers are cultured in saltwater with a specific gravity of 1.023 and are maintained at a population density of 200 rotifers per ml of water. That means that you will receive approximately 60,000 Live Rotifers if you purchase 10oz and 120,000 if you purchase 20oz bottle.
What Does Enriching Mean?
Enriching means feeding a premium food that contains fatty acids (especially ARA, EPA and DHA), carbohydrates, proteins, and vitamins. This process is known as "gut loading". When our rotifers are enriched, this does not only fill the gut but the enrichment feed is gradually incorporated into the rotifer tissues.
Storage
DO NOT FREEZE! Keep refrigerated for up to 7 days between 34° - 39°F (1 - 4°C). After 7 days majority of your rotifers will be dead.
