Danny Inferno, ladderman, uses hand ladders or truck extension ladders to search for and rescue people who may be trapped in burning buildings. Members of a ladder company use their special tools to ventilate buildings to release smoke, heat, and gases that build up during fires. If buildings are not ventilated, the heat and pressure of the gases can explode.
