Ewe Drumming From Ghana
The Ewe people of Ghana and Togo are renowned for their polyrhythmic drumming and beautiful call and response singing and, against all odds, these traditions have persevered in our modern world. This music is for dancing and is performed live at social and religious functions, but this recording made by the Ghanaian Dzigbordi group was recorded at a specially convened session on the outskirts of the village and captures the exciting music. This CD contains comprehensive essays and many photographs of the instruments and sessions. From the exclusive collaboration of Topic Records and the International Music Collection of the British Library Sound Archive.
