Eurasian Red Squirrel Holiday Cards
The Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is common across almost all of Europe and northern Asia. Primarily vegetarian, it spends most of each morning and evening searching for seeds, nuts, tree bark, acorns, and other plant matter found in its favored woodland habitat. It stores what food it doesn't immediately need in hidden caches throughout the forest. That makes the squirrel a helpful mechanism for seed dispersion; if it doesn't make it back to reclaim its cache, there's a good chance a tree will sprout there.
