This book is not a political stance nor that it is a political propaganda, but it is about Self-reliance and the paradigm shift in the way the Eritrean people think about being self-reliant in, securing their borders, to economic sufficiency, technological advancement, educational excellence, agricultural production, public welfare and energy independence or otherwise. Therefore, the sole and only purpose of this book is, first, to account the enduring vision of the Eritrean people to build a peaceful nation that is free from any foreign dependency grounded on a true and a total ever lasting spirit of self-reliance. Historically, in Eritrea, Self-reliance is not just a government policy, but it is a state of mind and a culture of the Eritrean people. Second, It is to raise the issue of foreingn aid and development. Histry books tells us, overreliance on aid has trapped developing nations in a vicious circle of aid dependency, corruption, market distortion, and further poverty, leaving them with nothing but the “need” for more aid and economic drawback. Developing countries' leaders must began to reliaze that for foreign aid to be effective in the future, the foreign aid apparatus will have to be rethought. Foreing aid should be only to support the their econmic development, and not be their economy.
