Donizetti: Lucia di Lamermoor
Diana Damrau, who first sang the title role of Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and "immediately made it her own, with a combination of splendid vocalism and keen dramatic insight" (Associated Press). Five years later, in July 2013, she brought her interpretation of the archetypal bel canto heroine to her native Bacaria under the baton of Jesºs L³pez-Cobos, where she was greeted with rapture. In this live recording from Munich's Philharmonie Gasteig, she is joined by two splendid singers: Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja as her lover Edgardo, and baritone Ludovic Tezier as her brother Enrico.
