Die Dominee en die Doktor en ander stories (Afrikaans) (Afrikaans Edition)
"Sometime during ones life (usually when you€re reaching that end, closer to the end of your being) one starts thinking about the achievements, and maybe failures of your existence.
Then some guys produce autobiographies which tell of glorious deeds, which make others stand in awe while discussing it. Others can tell more about themselves and what they experienced along their way through life, or about all the VIP€s they met.
Me? I chose to pen down my memories from childhood. As far back as I can remember. But like with all stories, I restrained from spoiling the story with hard facts in order to keep it somewhat disguised. I do hope that, should the disguise not be good enough, those among you who recognize yourselves would sit back, thinking about your childhood and start writing. Even if you are telling a page long fib to make yourself look better, or, if you drop half of the story to prevent the other guy from looking so damn good, who cares?
I hope you will enjoy the sketches and stories. Some, especially one, is a bit robust, but it is the gospel truth. Only the names are changed. The other stories are humorous, cultural, and maybe some even educational.
Thank you for the opportunity to give you something of myself.
Kys de Wet."
