Barton Biggs pioneered the concept of Investment Strategy. He was an excellent investor prior to joining Morgan Stanley as a partner in 1973. He was also an amusing and insightful writer whose weekly essays were anxiously anticipated by investors world-wide. Probably most important, he was a profound thinker who stimulated others to consider discontinuous changes in trends and themes. In later life he proved to be both a novelist and an historian through the books he wrote. He was an intellectual and an athlete--a true Renaissance Man. During the course of his half-century career he was a role model and an inspiration to the entire investment profession.

Byron Wien is Vice Chairman of Blackstone Advisory Partners LP where he acts as a senior adviser to both the Firm and its clients in analyzing economic, social and political trends to assess the direction of financial markets and thus help guide investment and strategic decisions.
