Dai Keong Lee: Polynesian Suite / Symphony No. 1

CRI 195. Hawaiian-born Chinese-American composer Dai-Keong Lee (1915-2005) studied with Roger Sessions, Frederick Jacobi, and Aaron Copland and this album displays both the light and serious sides of his creative work. CONTENTS: The Polynesian Suite (1959) is in three movements: Tahitian Dance, Hula, and Festival. The Symphony No. 1 (1947) is in 3 movements: Adagio con anima - Allegro con brio, Andante espressivo, and Finale: Allegro animato. Both works are persuasively performed by the Nurnberg Symphony Orchestra, conducted by George Barati.
