Creation Rebel & Dub

While there are better and more varied samplers of producer Bunny Lee's fine mid- 70s work, the first disc of this "twofer" still delivers plenty of top-notch sides by two of Lee's best singers, Johnnie Clarke and Cornell Campbell. Equally stellar work is also heard by Horace Andy, Dennis Brown, Linval Thompson, the Paragons, and Derrick Morgan. And while none of the many DJ and instrumental sides Lee cut during this time are included, the second disc does comes packed with a round of King Tubby's quality dub sides, most of which are versions of the vocals from the first half. As always, Lee's favored band, the Aggrovators, provide solid rhythm work throughout. An enjoyable if somewhat obscure selection from Channel One's heyday. ~ Stephen Cook, All Music Guide
