Crate Training a Puppy or Adult Dog (Dog Training My Way Book 1)
Simple to Follow Training Guide to House Training a Puppy or Adult Dog
Recommended by Veterinarians!
This is a very straightforward guide detailing every step I've used repeatedly myself over the years, house training both puppies and adult dogs I've adopted from shelters. My methods are gentle and rely heavily upon kindness, patience, and most important 'positive reinforcement'.
Initially, I wrote this in the form of a much shorter training report that veterinarians and rescue organizations could direct their clients to on my website, or print and use as a hand-out for new owners and adopters. Over the course of more than 8 years it was downloaded more than 60,000 times.
I begin by explaining:
Too many dogs that are abused in the name of training by ill-advised owners and trainers end up psychologically damaged. All dogs love to please their owners so it's only natural for them to figure out how to receive your praise. Consequently, "No!!" spoken sharply is always sufficient; never resort to physical punishment. It confuses and frightens the dog and is very counterproductive. All training should be fun and as pleasant as possible.
