Confessions of a Dope Boy
€œDo you know what fucking time it is, knocking on the damn door? It is six in the damn morning,€ Anna spat out.
€œI€"I€"I€m sorry. I was trying to see if Bishop was home,€ Tanya stammered.
Anna stood at the door staring at Tanya. If looks could kill, Quinton would€ve been an orphan.
€œWhat the fuck do you want with my nigga?€ Anna looked closer at her. €œAin't you the chick that works in the warehouse?€Â
Tanya stood there holding Quinton feeling lower than ever. €œYea,€ she answered. €œLook, I don€t want any trouble. I just€“I need to talk to Bishop.€Â
Quinton began to fuss and Anna acknowledged what Tanya was holding.
Anna€s eyes grew large as she saw the bundle moving. €œI know you ain't tryna pin your baby on my man. Bitch, you better be glad that baby is in your hands, 'cause that€s the only thing saving your life right now!€Â
By this time, Anna was yelling and Bishop had come down the stairs to see what the commotion was.
€œBabe, what the hell are you screaming about? You tryna wake the neighbors?€ he€d said as he walked up to the door.
All the color had drained from his face when he saw Tanya standing there with Quinton in her arms. He hadn€t seen her since before she€d had the baby, so he didn€t expect this.
Anna turned and tried to hit him, but he blocked her before she could. Playing stupid, he asked, €œWhat the hell is wrong with you, Ann?€Â
€œWhat the hell is wrong with me? How about this bitch showing up with a fucking baby that looks like you? That€s what the hell is wrong with me!€ she said, pointing towards Tanya.
€œOkay, first of all, you need to calm down. We don€t need to be out here screaming and making all this noise. I€m sure someone has called the cops by now, and we can€t afford to have them run up in my spot,€ Bishop said, pushing Anna inside and leaving the door open for Tanya.
Tanya had tiptoed into the house and stood at the beginning of the hallway.
€œYou bring this bitch in our house? Really, Bishop? All because she shows up with a baby? So that means you fucked her! I€m so sick of this shit. Fuck you! I don€t need this shit!€ Anna had yelled as she stomped up the stairs and slammed the door to their bedroom.
Bishop sighed, then walked to the couch and sat down. Tanya did not move from where she was standing. Bishop knew Anna was probably upstairs tearing up everything that he owned.
€œWhat the fuck were you thinking coming here, Tanya?€ he hissed at her.
Tanya was fighting back the tears. €œLook, Bishop, I really didn€t want to come but I can€t raise him knowing that his father is capable of taking care of him but won€t because he€s afraid to lose his woman. Quinton is your son, Bishop. I didn€t make him by myself. How can you just go from telling me I was the most special thing in the world one day to denying your son the next?€ she asked. €œLook at him, Bishop!€ she yelled at him as she held the baby up. €œYou look at him and tell me that this is not your son.€Â
Bishop knew the minute he€d laid eyes on him that Quinton was his son. He just didn€t want to lose Anna. She was his world. But Bishop knew he couldn€t deny his son. He didn€t deserve it. Bishop grew up without his father, which was one of the main reasons he was in the streets now. He didn€t know how he was going to do it, but he had to be there for him.
€œCan I hold him? I mean, is it ok?€ he asked.
Tanya hesitated before she handed Quinton to him. Bishop looked down at him and he felt a lump in his throat. €œDamn. I€m sorry, T. I fucked up. I got caught up and trying to keep everybody happy. I fucked up bad. It wasn€t supposed to happen like this,€ he said as a tear fell down his face while he looked into the eyes of his son.
Bishop was so busy looking at the baby that he didn€t see Anna around the corner.
€œYou fucking bitch!€ she screamed as she jumped Tanya from behind and began punching her repeatedly.
Tanya was caught off guard and tried to fight Anna off as best as she could. Bishop put Quinton down and ran over to separate
