I am so satisfied with the durability and build quality of this 500 gram capacity extractor, makes my old closed column feel like junk. It will hold about 2000ml solvent capable of extracting a pound of whole, unground botanical s. 1) pack column with material to be extracted. 2) attach all fittings securely. 3) chill the extractor so that it is colder than the boiling point of your solvent (colder the better) 4) using room temperature canned solvent, take chilled extractor, with both valves shut off, push butane can firmly into the threaded brass fitting so that the plastic tip is pushed down and wants to release butane but can't because the tip is fit snug into the brass fitting, immediately open the valve while keeping the can secure, you should hear butane poor into the extraction column. Should take 20-30seconds to empty a can into the column. Once you hear the can of butane become empty, immediately close off the valve. Repeat this process until the extraction column is full. Be extremely careful when filling the extractor column. 5) store the extraction column between -30 and 30 degrees F for 10minutes up to a couple hours (extraction times vary, colder temperatures will result in higher purity product) (be careful when using dry ice because the rubber seals will begin to leak below ~30F) 6) finish: Hold the extractor vertically and slowly open the valve facing downward. Allow product to evacuate from column in a gentle stream until all solvent is removed from extractor. 7) purge
