Claudio Abbado: Symphony Edition

To celebrate Claudio Abbados 80th birthday (June 26, 2013), DG has prepared this comprehensive 41-CD box set devoted to his recordings of symphonic repertoire. Abbados career with Deutsche Grammophon stretches back over more than four decades. In that time he has made innumerable recordings that have stood the test of time. In opera, in modern music, as a partner in concerto recordings, Abbado has left a glorious indelible mark. In more recent years, every Abbado recording has been an event, something special whether his Mahler symphonies with Berlin, or the Mozart, Bach and Pergolesi projects with his Orchestra Mozart. And, of course, as a sponsor and champion of new orchestras he is unrivalled not least with his most recent creations, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and the Orchestra Mozart.
