Christmas In The Sand
CHRISTMAS IN THE SAND
The idea came for this song when I was in Hawaii this spring and I was narrowing down the Christmas standards my dad was building tracks for back home in SoCal. I was sitting on the beach with my friends and I was thinking, what do they listen to over here at Christmas time? I bet they don't always want to hear songs about white Christmas's and bundling up cause it's cold outside. They want to have a holiday song they can relate to living in tropical warm weather. So when I got back to Cali and I had a writing session with my friends Jason Reeves and Kara DioGuardi, they loved the idea. And they could both relate to what I was feeling because we had just been to Kauai together two years prior. So Kara started coming up with all these funny lyrics about Santa falling off his surf board and Rudolf playing randeer games on me. Its such a fun song and really shows a silly side of my personality that most people don't see besides my friends and family. I love this song. The video is pretty hilarious. We shot it at the same house in Malibu, Ca where we photographed the album cover. In the video I'm wearing the same vintage Hawaiian print red and white one piece bathing suite that I have on in the album cover. And I'm dancing around on the beach, playing in the water with Santa and his Elves, drinking cocktails watching Santa surf. Yes, it's supposed to make people laugh :-)
