The MagniSheet (DM-11) from Carson is a full page, bendable, fresnel magnifier within a black bordered frame. A fresnel magnifier (pronounced "fre-nel") is a flat magnifier that is produced by stamping a series of annular optical grooves on to a flat sheet of acrylic or PVC. Fresnel magnifiers use far less material than a typical double-convex magnifying lens, so they are typically very lightweight and thin. One disadvantage of fresnel magnifiers is the sharpness of the image. Fresnel magnifiers generally cannot produce as sharp an image as a double-convex magnifying lens. However, a benefit to fresnel magnifiers is that they can be produced in much larger sizes than a typical double-convex lens. To get the best results from the Carson MagniSheet fresnel page magnifier, hold it approximately 4.0 inches above your subject (do not place it directly on top of the page or it will not magnify your image).
