Cardiac Arrest/We All Know Who We Are
In the world of funk, Cameo stand as one of the precious stones in the crown. A band that had the ability to take funk rhythms, make them danceable yet also retain a high degree of musicianship. Their excellent debut album, 1977 s Cardiac Arrest , was highlighted by four singles. Three of those hit the Billboard R&B chart. 1978 saw the release of their second and third albums. The second title of our two on one CD is We All Know Who We Are , which saw Cameo becoming increasingly successful. This got into the top 60 on the mainstream chart and number 15 on the R&B countdown. The single It s Serious not only gave the band a Top 20 R&B hit but also got onto the all important dance chart, hitting number 21. With songs like C on The Funk , Cameo were really finding their range and establishing a unique niche. Cameo would of course go on to bigger things as the 1980 s opened up, getting no less than eight gold discs and one platinum disc in America. CAMEO belong to the elite pioneers of the funk-dance movement, sprinkling their songs with visual charisma to more than hold their own in a world where outrage and excess were rampant!
