Candles In The Rain
2007 digitally remastered two-fer from the Folk Rock singer/songwriter featuring two albums on one disc. Melanie's third album, Candles In The Rain, was released in April 1970 and charted at # 5 in the UK and # 17 in the US. It features two of the songs for which she is best-known: her version of the Rolling Stones' 'Ruby Tuesday' and 'What Have They Done To My Song Ma?'. The album also features the rare full 7:40 version of 'Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)' with the Edwin Hawkins Singers. The bonus tracks are songs that Melanie wrote for the film All The Right Noises and end with her version of Lindisfarne's 'Meet Me On The Corner' (re-titled 'Dream Seller'). Leftover Wine (September 1970, UK # 22, US # 33) was recorded live in New York (with the exception of studio recording 'Peace Will Come'). Melanie plays different interpretations of some of her own favorites to a very appreciative audience along with some songs exclusive to this album. The very rare bonus track was the b-side of 'Peace Will Come'. Edsel.
