Candelaro

It is the late 18th century, and the life of the Spanish Capítan, Candelaro, is ordered. He commands an outpost in the small town of Socorro, in New Granada, in America. There is news of rebellion and unrest all around. Salvador Plata, a ruthless mercenary delivers a valuable prize into the hands of Candelaro and his faithful men.

The rebel leader Galán has been captured and his dream of bringing freedom from the oppression of the Spanish invaders is destroyed with his own execution, but first, he is forced to watch his wife and young son be brutally killed before him, at the garrison in Socorro. This scene of brutality is overseen by the loyal Capítan. Plata has also been humiliated by Candelaro, and the mercenary swears a Godly promise that he will see the upright Spaniard dead.

Just over two years later Simón Bolívar is born, in the city of Caracas, into a wealthy family, and is the youngest son of an aristocrat of Spanish descent. From now on, the lives of the two deadly enemies, the upright and moral Candelaro, and the mercenary Plata, will be marked and influenced by the life of this infant, Bolívar.

Our story traces the childhood of Simón Bolivar, of his irregular childhood and the completion of his education in Europe where he flirts with the Queen of Spain; duels with the heir to the throne; and sees the republican, Napoleon Bonaparte, crowned. Inspired by this rich spectacle, Simón now swears an oath, upon a sacred mountain.

Simón has a rare character that enables him to seduce women and command men with grace and ease. He swears by God, that his dreams will be achieved, no matter the cost to himself, or those that he leads through the jungles, into the unwelcoming mountains and across the llanos.

The adventure reaches a dramatic climax, when the fate of a nation will be decided upon.
