This Brewer L-Series universal drive tensioner is an adjustable take-up idler for restoring an elongated chain or belt to its original tension and supporting drives with long centers. (Idler shaft and set collar not included.) It has a compact base for mounting to a machine frame. The vertical slide adjustment controls tension, and the idler head rotates for extra mounting options. It can also be used as a snubber for head and tail pulleys. Belt and chain tensioners reduce belt or chain slack that occurs in power transmission drive systems through normal operation. Factors to consider in selecting a proper tensioner include drive power, speed, torque, load, operating cycles, and available mounting space.
