The world has moved on. The stuff of fantasy has become reality but most important of all, there is now absolute truth. Advances in technology mean citizens are no longer able to lie to the law givers. Those dispensing justice can do so without fear of punishing the innocent. Society is no longer prepared to keep or tolerate those who choose to do harm.

And so the Brethren have arisen.

They offer the world another way, a natural justice. They keep the criminals contained and restrained whilst indulging their fetishes and desires. Criminals are presented to the Brethren to live out their days owned and degraded. Within the city's and county's given over to the elite of the Brethren, normality is subjective. Segregated from the rest of society they indulge without prejudice or interference.

Her torso was pressed against the straight rigid back of the chair, a corset and steel brace flattened her waist and breasts to a point where James wondered how she managed to draw breath. The woman's arms hung by her sides, covered to the wrists by the long sleeves of her gown. Just like her legs they were enclosed in braces, a mass of straps and steel holding them unmoving and stiff, her hands were nothing more than ovals of thick rubber laying impotent in her lap. There was nothing securing the rubber encased woman in to the chair but given the extremes of the braces and the sheer thickness of the clothing covering every inch of her body it was clear she couldn't have moved let alone stood up.

As the Governess manoeuvred the chair to a table, James could make out the steel monstrosity that forced her charges head and neck to remain perfectly still and erect. Rising from her collar bone a frame work of steel boning overlaid a second skin of rubber to just below the woman's ears and pale drawn lips. A band of steel marked the edge of the neck brace but the rubber continued up over the woman's shaved scalp and face obscuring her left eye. The Governess bent down to apply the chairs brakes, checking a hanging catheter bag as she did so. James was spell bound, the woman was reduced to a mere component in this mass of rubber and steel. Her body was no longer her own, completely immobile all she could do was sit, bound and restricted, an object to be manipulated, her vulnerability and helplessness displayed for everyone to revel in her humiliation and dependence.
