Billboard Presents: Family Scarytime Classics - Memorable Songs From Film And Television
If you know of a kid whose tastes are sophisticated enough to appreciate Peggy Lee breathily singing "Bewitched" (an instrumental version was heard on the TV theme song), the melodramatic orchestrations of The Twilight Zone theme by John Williams, or Kay Starr's swingin' version of "The Headless Horseman" from 1949, then perhaps you're on the right track here. Along with must-haves such as the themes from The Addams Family and The Munsters, kookier moments include "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" from the film of the same name, the still-eerie strains of the theme from "Dark Shadows," and Burt Bacharach and Hal David's "The Blob" from the 1958 film. Today's kid will probably relate most to the wonderful "This Is Halloween" from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, which suggests that you might be better off purchasing that disc, unless you're looking for a good dose of retrokitsch for your Halloween. --Lorry Fleming
