Beyerdynamic A1 Headphone Amplifier (Discontinued by Manufacturer)
The A 1 headphone amplifier has been developed to operate headphones with nominal impedance from 30 to 600 ohms. It provides excellent audio quality with high volume and strong bass response. The special circuit design features an amazingly natural sound reproduction with an excellent resolution and spatiality. The entire circuitry is capable to transmit 96 kHz allowing the transmission of the whole frequency response of a SA-CD or DVD audio. Due to a microprocessor-controlled relay, two high-class stereo sound sources can be selected silently. The volume control is made of solid aluminum with a high-grade ALPS potentiometer inside. The gold-plated RCA connections on the rear allow the connection of audio sources and provide a signal transmission without loss. A large dimensioned toroidal core transformer ensures high fidelity of impulse and dynamics. The combination of selected high-grade components allows even the highest-impedance headphones to be driven flawlessly over the entire frequency range. High impedance at the headphones output ensures the control range of the volume potentiometer to be perfect for low-impedance headphones, too. One input is passively connected with the Lineout of the A 1 to loop through incoming signals even when the A 1 is in stand-by mode. Two blue LEDs on the front display the active signal input, another multicolor LED shows the operating status (stand-by or active).
