Beethoven: Symphony No.3 - Eroica (December 19 & 20, 1944)

This SACD is the first of a series dedicated to Wilhelm Furtwängler s live concerts. The inaugural disc features the famous Vienna Philharmonic Eroica recorded in December 1944 at the Musikvereinssaal, with Friedrich Schnapp at the controls. Tahra has carefully remastered the original tapes from the archive of the Deutsche Rundfunk. Future releases in the series will include a Bruckner eighth, recorded two months earlier, the famous Brahms concert in Hamburg (October 1951) and the Berlin concerts
(Beethoven symphonies). The Super Audio CD format serves as the ideal medium to ensure optimal sound quality.
