What's floating disc brake rotor? A floating rotor is seperated into a outer ring and inner frame, connected by rivets in non-rigid structure, which vertical movement between the two parts is allowed. During a brake, a normal rotor experiences uneven thermal expansion due to fictional force, together with unequal stress applied on it, the disc will soon wear out and deform. For a floating rotor, the loose, riveted connection creates a buffer between the outer ring and inner frame, equalizes stress to the whole disc, provides a more stable and smooth brake experience.
