Stephen Hart checked his watch. He didn't have to be home for another fifteen minutes, which was good because he wasn't done with his jog yet. He turned down the side street that was the closest to home and began his descent down the road. He loved exercising in the morning. These jogs were always so refreshing and calming. The peaceful world was just what he needed to start his day out right and make sure he had the boost he needed to get things done.

When he made it home, he had another ten minutes to shower and dress before he had to tidy his living room. The fuss that day was all about welcoming his family to his home, and this was always a very stressful event.

He knew he wouldn't have been able to manage it without a chance to balance himself with his morning routine and a jog around the neighborhood to calm his nerves.

However, he still managed to do pretty well for himself, though he refused to take shortcuts and do things in a diabolical way that would get him more than he earned. That's not the way Stephen was.

Stephen asked the maids to take care of the house and he tidied up, making sure to leave a knowledgeable business magazine out within his parent's sight, so that they would think that at the very least he was doing his best.

That had to count for something anyway.
Finally the time came for them to arrive, and he took a deep breath. He seated himself in his armchair near the fireplace, and soon the butler led his parents to the room he was in. To his surprise, they weren't alone.
