A clean mic signal helps make post-production easier because there is much less room ambience to work against, which in turn helps you mold your vocal tracks more accurately to you or your clients' specifications. If you don't have a dedicated vocal booth in your studio, the Auralex MudGuard is the next best thing.
Nearly every professional studio has dedicated booths for tracking vocal and instruments. While this is surely the most effective way to track, it is not always possible in home studios. The MudGuard can help you achieve professional-quality vocal recordings in your home studio by eliminating off-axis reflections that add unwanted ambiance to your tracks. The result is much more "dead" tracks which can help your final mix and masters sound like they came from a dedicated professional studio.
